Guided Colosseum Tour with Arena Floor Access and Roman Forum

The Colosseum arena floor is a special-access area where gladiators once fought, the wooden stage that now partially reconstructs the original floor gives you a direct sense of standing at the very center of Rome's ancient spectacles. Standard Colosseum tickets give access to the outer tiers only; arena floor access requires a specific ticket type. Our tour includes this upgraded access, placing you at the heart of the action rather than looking down from the galleries above.

The Colosseum is one of the most visited monuments in the world, and queues for tickets can exceed 90 minutes on busy days. Book timed-entry tickets in advance, bring a bottle of water, wear comfortable shoes, and allow at least 2 hours for a complete visit including the Roman Forum. The Roman Forum was the political, religious, and commercial center of ancient Rome for over a thousand years. Today you can see the Temple of Saturn, the Arch of Septimius Severus, the Basilica of Maxentius, the Temple of Vesta, and the House of the Vestal Virgins. Our guide brings these ruins to life, explaining who built each monument, what happened there, and how the Forum evolved from the Roman Republic through the height of the Empire.

The Colosseum could hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators, comparable to many modern sports stadiums. It hosted gladiatorial contests, animal hunts (venationes), public executions, mock naval battles, and theatrical performances over its 400+ years of active use. The underground hypogeum — a network of tunnels beneath the arena floor, is where gladiators, animals, and stage machinery were held before being lifted into the arena. Our tour explores this extraordinary space.

Seeing the Colosseum in person is a profoundly different experience from photographs. The scale, 57 metres high, 188 metres long,  only becomes clear when you stand inside it. The layers of ancient stone, the sense of history, and the view across to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill are things no image can replicate.
