Can you visit Florence by bike?
Yes — and Florence is particularly well suited to it. Much of the historic centre is pedestrianised or has restricted traffic, meaning cyclists can access streets and viewpoints that tour buses and taxis simply cannot reach. A bike tour also covers significantly more ground than a walking tour in the same amount of time, allowing you to see all the major landmarks — Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi exterior, the Oltrarno district, and more — without rushing between them. Our small group bike tour (maximum 20 guests) offers a choice between a traditional bicycle and a comfortable e-bike, so you can adjust your effort level to your preference.
What is the difference between a regular bike and an e-bike on the Florence tour?
On this tour you can choose between a traditional bicycle and an electric-assist bike (e-bike). The traditional bicycle is a standard city bike suitable for the mostly flat historic centre route. The e-bike provides electric motor assistance that activates as you pedal, reducing the physical effort required — especially useful on the occasional inclines and for guests who prefer a more relaxed pace without lagging behind the group. Both bike types are included in the tour price. Helmets are provided for all guests. If you have a preference, we recommend specifying at the time of booking to ensure availability.
What are the main sights on the Florence bike tour?
The Florence bike tour covers the historic centre and the Oltrarno district, passing all the major landmarks without entering any monuments. The route includes Ponte Vecchio (the 14th-century bridge lined with goldsmiths' shops), Piazza della Signoria, the exterior of the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo and Baptistery area, and the streets of the Oltrarno neighbourhood on the south bank of the Arno. The guide knows the less-obvious spots too — the viewpoints, the quieter streets, and the photographic angles that most visitors on foot never discover. The route is mostly flat with occasional gentle gradients.
Is the Florence bike tour suitable for families and children?
Yes — the Florence bike tour offers specific options for families and guests of all ages. Tandem bikes are available for couples or a parent and older child to ride together. Child seats are available for smaller children. The route is mostly on pedestrianised streets and low-traffic areas in the historic centre. A basic level of cycling confidence is required — the tour is not designed for complete beginners who have never ridden a bike. If you are booking for children or guests with specific needs, please contact us in advance so we can confirm the best arrangement.
What happens if it rains on the Florence bike tour?
The Florence bike tour is never cancelled due to rain. If it rains lightly, the tour proceeds as normal on bikes. If heavy rain makes cycling unsafe or genuinely unpleasant, our guides may switch the experience to a walking tour of the same route, covering the same sights on foot with the same level of historical commentary. Should this happen, you will be offered a choice at check-in: proceed with the tour (bike or walking depending on conditions, with no refund for the format change), or reschedule to another date subject to availability. Your safety and comfort are the priority. Appropriate rain gear is strongly recommended.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
Cancellations are free up to 24 hours before the tour departure. For cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour start time, as well as in case of no-shows, the full amount will be charged.
