Immerse yourself in Palermo’s culinary scene
Your journey begins at our cooking school in the vibrant heart of Palermo, where you'll meet your local chef and guide for the day. Kick off your experience with a visit to the bustling “mercato del capo,” one of the city’s iconic markets. Here, you'll explore the diverse array of fresh produce, seafood, meats, and cheeses that define Sicilian cuisine. Our guide will introduce you to local vendors, sharing insights into the unique ingredients that make Sicilian cooking special. You’ll even have the chance to select seasonal ingredients that will be used in your cooking class, gaining firsthand knowledge of how to choose the best produce.
Craft and Savor Authentic Sicilian Dishes
Once you’ve gathered your fresh ingredients from the market, it’s time to dive into the culinary adventure that awaits! Don your apron and step into our kitchen for a hands-on cooking class where you’ll learn to prepare a traditional three-course Sicilian meal. Under the expert guidance of our professional chef, you’ll be walked through each stage of crafting a delightful menu, which might include some iconic Sicilian specialties such as “arancine” (crispy fried rice balls filled with meat sauce and peas), homemade Pasta alla Norma (a savory dish with tomato sauce, fried eggplants, and salted ricotta), and, of course, the renowned Sicilian dessert, cannoli.
As you cook, you'll not only master the techniques and tips needed for achieving authentic Sicilian flavors but also uncover the history and cultural significance behind each dish. You'll gain insight into the origins of these ingredients and the traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. By the end of the class, you'll have prepared and savored a delicious meal, while also acquiring valuable skills and knowledge to recreate these Sicilian classics at home.
Enjoy your culinary creations
After preparing your meal, sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor in the inviting setting of our cooking school. Relish the authentic Sicilian flavors you’ve crafted yourself and leave with a deeper appreciation for the region’s cuisine. You’ll also receive a digital recipe booklet to recreate these dishes at home, along with tips from our chef to enhance your culinary skills.
Note: Fish vendors are closed on Mondays. If your tour falls on a Monday, you’ll enjoy an exclusive introduction and additional tastings at the cooking school instead.
